Policy Work
School Governance
Since the fall of 2022, I am an elected school board trustee for the French Public system Viamonde, representing the district of Windsor-Essex. As part of my duties, I chair the Standing Committee on Education, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and I sit on the Parent Engagement Committee. I am also a board member of the Association des conseils scolaires des écoles publiques de l'Ontario (ACÉPO). I am working to implement the commitments of my electoral platform. For more information on my school trustee activities, please visit my Facebook page.
Official Languages Rights
I am at present a member and chair of the Official Languages Rights Expert Panel of the Court Challenges Program of Canada (CPP). The CPP, which is funded by and independent from the Government of Canada, provides financial support for Canadians wishing to bring before the courts test cases of national significance that aim to clarify and to assert official language rights and human rights. The Expert Panel decides which cases will be funded (1.5 million CAD annual funding).
Indigenous Language Rights
As an ally to Indigenous Peoples, I advocate for the protection and revitalisation of Indigenous languages. Along with Dr. Rebecca Major and Tejas Pandya, I submitted a policy brief to the Parliament of Canada regarding Bill C-91, The Indigenous Languages Act. You can find this policy brief here. We were additionally consulted by members of the Canadian public service for amending Bill C-91.
